Christina Zilber/Jouer Cosmetics

Here I'm doing make-up for Christina Zilber, one of my very favorite clients (elegant, beautiful, intelligent, impeccable taste ... and a hell of a lot of fun. Can you tell I kinda idolize her?), for a Town and Country magazine layout. We were in that tiny narrow hall because that's where the best light was and as any make-up artist knows (well, picky ones like me) lighting is all.

Christina is the founder/owner of Jouer Cosmetics (pronounced zhoo-way, which is French for "to play") and I have been "playing with" her make-up line from the start. The colors are the kind of super wearable ones that I find I use on everyone again and again. Also, each color compact has a unique slide and click feature so that you can connect your faves together to create a chic, easy to travel with custom make-up kit. Big girl Legos!

All of the make-up has treatment ingredients in it as well, so you'll actually be improving your skin as you prettify yourself. Two must haves: Lip enhancer, a super emollient lip conditioner that plumps up your lip size with continued use ... it really works, and Luminizing Moisture Tint, an oil-free tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 that evens out skintone, camouflages imperfections, protects your skin, softens lines and imparts a glow. It can be worn alone, worn under your base, or mixed in with your base to "lighten" the finish. In a pinch, I've used it as a leg make-up/body bronzer and it worked great. Truly a multi-tasker!

Jouer Cosmetics can be found at Henri Bendel's in NY or online at http://www.jouercosmetics.com/

Joely Fisher 2009 Emmys

I did Joely's make-up for the Emmy Awards today. I wish I had a better photo than this one from Wire Image ... the sun was so strong and bright everyone on the red carpet is squinting in their shots. Anyway, I thought her eye make-up looked especially pretty. It was coppery plums and a bit of royal purple glitter-liner to match her exquisite silk chiffon dress and diamond and amythyst necklace. I don't usually work with too much color, but this dress really called for it. Guy Romeo did her pretty, romantic updo.

Eva Mendes - Oldie but Goodie

Not that Eva is old, mind you! I just thought I'd revisit some older photos of some of my past work when I don't have much new to add to the blog. I've been working on the Fox sitcom " 'Til Death", so I haven't been doing a lot of shoots.

Eva was really sweet and kind of soft spoken. I just remember thinking she was stunningly beautiful and oh so sexy. She reminded me of Cindy Crawford. I think she's even gotten better with a little age (we should all be so lucky). Anyway, I'm glad she's done well in her career, because I really liked her and was quite taken with her beauty.

Rachelle Begley

The lovely Rachelle Begley, co-star with her husband Ed of the Planet Green reality series, "Living With Ed". This photo was taken in the beautifully landscaped front yard of her Valley home on a scorching hot day.

'Til Death / Joely Fisher

Just finished up the first show of the 4th season of the Fox sitcom 'Til Death, starring Joely Fisher and Brad Garrett. I've done Joely's make-up for about 15 years now (though I only started on the show the middle of last season) and all I can say is, what a big-hearted, gifted and sexy lady. And very funny, too.

This shot is from a few years ago when I did Joely's make-up for the Emmy's, which she and Brad appeared on as presenters.

Stephanie Taylor

Kelly Kagen, a pregnancy photographer who likes to shoot anything but run-of-the-mill photos, shot Stephanie Taylor, an artist, who wanted to do something a little, well, arty. We were at the sculpture garden at LACMA. The "mask" make-up was kinda what came about after talking to Stephanie a bit. She made the totally cool draped gown she's wearing. Here I'm drawing a circle on her belly so I could cut the fabric away to expose her tummy in all it's glory.

Traci Lords

I love Traci. I've worked with her for many years now. A completely down to earth, no-nonsense lady. Gorgeous skin, too. Can you believe she'd just had a baby when this was shot?
